College Students
Argon ST is always on the lookout for fresh minds and innovative thinkers to bring new perspective to our business and take our company to the next level.
At Argon ST, the commitment to college recruiting comes directly from our president, Terry Collins, who says:
“Our college grads bring new ideas, new skills, and energy to our company. Once you arrive on your first day, you will immediately be part of the team.”
This is not a place where you will spend years shuffling papers and handling busy work. We immediately challenge our new graduates, interns, and co-ops by involving them in leading-edge technical systems and giving them the opportunity to make an impact on customer projects. With that challenge comes technical mentoring, in-house learning opportunities, and reimbursement for education expenses. Take a look at all the Career Development programs Argon ST has to offer for college students.
- Mentor Program: When you join Argon ST’s team, you will be assigned a mentor in addition to your supervisor. Your mentor will be someone who will be able to guide you and answer your questions regarding our systems, code, processes, the local area, and much more.
- Summer Program: Argon ST sponsors a summer program for new grads, interns, and co-ops that consists of a series of presentations and social activities. Company executives present on topics relating to Argon ST’s systems and technology, business issues and operations, and industry happenings. Social events include a trip to the International Spy Museum, a Ping-Pong tournament, social lunches, happy hours, and other fun events.
- Training Opportunities: Argon ST offers many training opportunities, including on-the-job training, internal training classes, online training, lunch-and-learn sessions, full tuition reimbursement, mentorship, company-paid professional memberships, and other types of training to meet each individual’s needs.
- Career Growth: Argon ST encourages individual growth and internal promotions. Many of our employees hired through college recruiting have quickly received increased responsibility by becoming team leaders, supervisors, and cost account managers. Our employees are also given the opportunity to broaden their skill sets by working on different projects and in different functional areas. Our employees are continually challenged, encouraged to learn, and rewarded for their hard work.
What College Students Say about working at Argon ST.
“Interning at ArgonST for two summers before I graduated could not have turned out any better. I got to work on quality projects with experienced and helpful people. I learned how to become a better programmer as well as a professional. With my internship experiences, I was able to be an effective full-time employee as soon as I started.”
– Danny Ziemer
“My summer experience at Argon really tied together all of the different
aspects of my education so far. My internship gave me real world experiences
to bring to classroom discussion. Most importantly, the things I learned
from my team members put me ahead of the curve in many of my upper level
computer science courses.”
– Bradley Willis
“There are a lot of extremely bright people here, and as the new guy, I was (of course) very intimidated at first. The learning curve was (sometimes) quite steep, but no matter how many questions I had or how often I asked them, someone was always ready to explain things.”
– Peter Schoenhoff
“I love the flexibility Argon ST offers. I have been able to work on both sides of the hardware and software spectrum.”
– Daniel Ramos
“People who have been doing a good job are given a chance to broaden their horizons by taking on additional responsibility. After about a year at Argon ST, I was asked to be the lead of a group of software. In that position, I needed to keep track of and organize all work within that software group. I provided help, direction, and status updates. Three releases of that group of software were made to support a successful project deadline.”
– Bernard Loveless
“Argon ST is completely cooperative inside the company and very competitive in the market. Everyone is treated like an equal and will go out of their way to make sure that you feel comfortable and a part of the team.”
– Jeff Connor
“Argon has a terrific team, and the open-door atmosphere is great for team-building and establishing co-worker relationships.”
– Dave Palmowski
“Argon ST’s mentor program really helps with the transition of going from college to the real-world work environment.”
– Miesha James
“As a computer science undergraduate looking to join the workforce when I graduate, it was critical that I get work experience. Still, many interns and co-ops end up doing small side tasks that amount to little more than busy work. As an intern at Argon ST, I can say this is definitely not the case here. I was assigned to a task that, while of manageable size, is directly a part of a major software effort. Everyone here is friendly, and there is no shortage of help.”
– Andrew Mildorf
